The Passion of the Christ

So by now, I am sure many of you have ventured out to your local movie theater and watched "The Passion of the Christ."

I am sure that you watched in disgust as the people relentlessly insulted the one and only Messiah. I am sure that you grimaced with every lashing that the Son of Man endured. I am sure that you squirmed in your seat with every blow that the Lamb of God received from the Roman soldiers.

After watching the movie last Saturday, I couldn't get the images out of my mind. Of course, at times I could say to myself that it was only a movie, but it's just different seeing the story of Jesus's crucifixion with my own eyes rather than simply reading the verses from the Bible.

A couple of days ago, I heard the song "Who Am I" by Casting Crowns for the very first time on the radio.

Who am I, that the Lord of all the earth
Would care to know my name
Would care to feel my hurt
Who am I, that the Bright and Morning Star
Would choose to light the way
For my ever wandering heart

Not because of who I am
But because of what You've done
Not because of what I've done
But because of who You are

I am a flower quickly fading
Here today and gone tomorrow
A wave tossed in the ocean
A vapor in the wind
Still You hear me when I'm calling
Lord, You catch me when I'm falling
And You've told me who I am
I am Yours

Who am I, that the eyes that see my sin
Would look on me with love
and watch me rise again
Who am I, that the voice that calmed the sea
Would call out through the rain
And calm the storm in me

Not because of who I am
But because of what You've done
Not because of what I've done
But because of who You are

I am a flower quickly fading
Here today and gone tomorrow
A wave tossed in the ocean
A vapor in the wind
Still You hear me when I'm calling
Lord, You catch me when I'm falling
And You've told me who I am
I am Yours, I am Yours

I am Yours
Whom shall I fear
Whom shall I fear
'Cause I am Yours
I am Yours

Who am I? In fact, who are we? None of us deserve to even bow at Jesus's feet, and yet He calls us to be His friends. After having just a taste of what He had to go through to cleanse us of our millions of sins, it hurts to think that each time we sin, we are once again nailing our Savior to the cross.

and I'll never know how much it cost
to see my sins upon that cross..

I love you, Jesus.
