it shouldn't SUCK to be single on valentine's day

that's what a poster said in the san jac lobby.

single. why does that word carry so much negative connotation nowadays? when did the word come to signify loneliness and incompletion? why can't the world find contentment in being single?

don't get me wrong. im not hating on valentine's day or anything. no way. in fact, it's just the opposite. i love how there's a special day especially set apart for people to show their love to people they care about.

im just confused at why more people don't feel satisfied with their singleness. being single doesn't mean that you live every day moping and wishing that you had a significant other in your life..

..or, at least it shouldn't.

as for me, valentine's day turned out to be an awesome opportunity to work together with other freshman guys to show our appreciation for the girls. not a single second of yesterday was spent feeling miserable for not having a girlfriend or whatever, because in all seriousness, there's no sense behind it.

woah, slow down there, mok. what do you mean? you didn't even feel a bit of dejection on the day also known as singles awareness day?

for those of you asking this question, this might be a shocker -- i enjoy being single. at this point in my life, i couldn't picture a better situation.

first of all, i know im not ready, both emotionally and spiritually. i want to be a godly man, fully secure in my faith and able to guard my girlfriend's heart, mind, and body.

more importantly, i know that God will provide when the timing is best. and trust me when i say that God's timing is always perfect.

so if you are also single, just take this time to grow closer to God and become the man or woman God wants you to be.

a couple sundays ago, pastor gideon said, "i don't know what you've been looking [to], who you've been looking to, what you've been looking to, to find completeness and wholeness and satisfaction, and Jesus says 'come to me; if any one is thirsty, let him come to me to drink.'"

don't look to the opposite sex to complete yourself. look to God.
