getting back into the swing of things..

i now fully comprehend the meaning of the word atrophy. as defined by dictionary.com, atrophy is "a wasting away, deterioration, or dimunition."

over the insanely long christmas break (but who's complaining?), i have experienced both muscular and intellectual atrophy. pretty harsh, eh?

well, i haven't worked out in 3 months. and while i haven't lost any weight over the this period of time, and my muscles haven't turned into complete jelly, it was astonishing to me that i have lost a lot of definition. sometimes i wonder if i should even start working out again. i mean, if lifting weights has to be an ongoing process for the rest of my life, why continue now if im only gonna quit later, right?

as far as intellectual atrophy is concerned, im not saying that ive gone completely stupid over the break, but it just feels weird studying again, doesn't it? or is it just me? yes, i am somewhat happy to be back at UT after a 6-week absence, but with classes starting again, i miss the loosey-goosey feeling of winter break, where i could sleep in every day and not have to worry about missing chemistry class.

but anyhow, rest assured, dear friends. in a few short months, i'll be back in tiptop shape, both physically and academically speaking. and hey, just in time for another long break from UT known as summer break. oh, the irony.

as my government professor truthfully stated, "you go to class 30 weeks a year. that leaves 22 weeks. 30 weeks in school, 22 weeks off. what a tough life!"

word.
