white christmas

i believe melanie markley and edward hegstrom said it best on the front page of the houston chronicle yesterday: "The weather outside is frightful. But snow? In Houston? On Christmas Eve?."

THAT'S IMPOSSIBLE. oh, sorry. those were my own words.

i woke up today to claims that it was indeed snowing outside. i hurriedly peeked outside onto the balcony. nothing. must be because i just woke up. rubbed my eyes a few more times, still nothing. then jennifer walks into the room and says "you can't see it? look closely.."

and finally, to my disappointment, i found out that by "snow" they had meant those few specks of white that i could barely see against the brown of the fence outside. yipee kai yay.

maybe that was just a trick to get me out of bed. cuz then my dad informed me that we were going to my cousin's house in bellaire to have lunch. so off we went. lunch was good. got to spend some quality time with the family. played some simpsons board game and watched "i, robot." not bad, not bad. then someone said that it was snowing again.

i looked outside, and this time i could actually see it falling! amazing, i tell ya. so everyone was ushered outside to take pictures.

yah, i know, i know. you can't see a single snowflake in that picture. sigh, you need a black backdrop or something.

anyways, it was time to leave. oh, here's one where you can see a SINGLE SNOWFLAKE ABOUT TO LAND IN MY LEFT HAND!! WHOAA!! AMAZING!!!

unfortunately, my luck ran out, and in this next picture, you can't see snow. nope, you just see my sister and i looking ridiculous.

so we head home, stop by hollywood to rent a couple dvds, then go home. pop in "ladykillers," and after a couple hours, the movie ends. i'm just about to put the next movie in, when all of a sudden, my brother comes home and says it's REALLY snowing outside.

and he wasn't lying!! here's some proof:

and so the fun begins. after recuperating from the shock that it's actually snowing, jason, jennifer, and i decide to build a snowman. or, i decide to. and i just make them help me. either way, that's what we did. so jason and i gathered snow while jennifer worked on the snowman.

in the process, i of course got a little bored. i mean, what good is snow without snowballs?

we finished the snowman!! i mean, sorry. he has a name -- joe.

then we decided to go find a huge hill to sled down. now THAT was a good idea. so we got a couple sleds from the garage and hopped in the car. we knew of this huge hill behind sweetwater country club, so that's where we went. we sledded down the hill countless times, in every way possible, forwards, backwards, 2-people, 3-people, screaming, yelping, you name it.

ah, good times, good times. have a very merry CHRISTmas everyone =)
