as many of you may know, i have loaded my schedule with morning classes. 8 AM monday and wednesday, followed by 9:30 tuesday and thursday. considering that last year i didn't have any classes before 11, i figured that waking up would be a very challenging task.
strangely enough, it's not the waking up that's killing me. it's the falling asleep portion of the deal.
i don't think there's anything MORE frustrating than not being able to fall asleep. yesterday, i went to bed at 12:30 AM. after tossing and turning for a couple hours, i finally fell asleep close to 3:00. what the heck.
so what am i supposed to do? i mean, sleeping shortly after midnight is already absurd, and yet i still can't fall asleep until a somewhat more "normal" sleeping hour. and all this comes back to the very bottom line: I CAN'T GET ENOUGH SLEEP.
maybe you're asking "what's wrong with that," you know, as if sleep wasn't a precious thing. well here's what happens when i don't get enough sleep:
1. i am in and out of sleep during class
2. i am forced to take a nap after class
the first effect is obviously terrible, but what's wrong with taking a nap? i'll tell you. after taking a nap, i feel reenergized. a bit too reenergized. so at night, i can't fall asleep! until, of course, 2 or 3 AM.
and if i don't take a nap, i can't get any work done. SO it's a lose-lose situation. gah!!
perhaps it's time to give nyquil a shot. or sleeping pills? or maybe i could just have a friend shoot me with a tranquilizer every night. anyone interested?
