you know i had mentioned the place was too crowded.
there was just enough room for one waitress to get by at a time, and if one thing went wrong, you could picture a disastrous domino effect with everyone sitting within breath-smelling distance of each other.
we had enjoyed a delicious meal and were just waiting for the pineapple upside down cake to top everything off.
enter a waitress from the right side with a tray in hand. she came over to our table, looked down at us, and asked if we had ordered a drink. ophelia and i looked up at her, then at each other, then up at her again, shaking our heads no.
the waitress was confused. with a puzzled look on her face, she started backing up, but i see it all in slow motion. from the left comes the restaurant manager, but he's looking over at the kitchen..
even the best fall down sometimes
even the wrong words seem to rhyme
out of the doubt that fills my mind
we somehow find you and i collide
so they howieday-ed, and the glass of red wine just tips me over and pours me out.
all on the right side of ophelia's beautiful head.
when it was all said and done, somehow i also got splashed with red all the way across the table.
free dinner, free dry-cleaning..i guess you could say a memorable valentine's day?
