so what have i been up to for the past week? i've been friggin' busy..

friday: left edinburgh in the morning and rode a train to troon, where we checked out the british open. i managed to smuggle in a camera and get off a few pretty decent shots of some of the big names (tiger, els, etc). after that, our group of 6 took a train to aviemore, where we spent the night in a hostel in a small town called boat of garten.

 

saturday: woke up nice and early and headed to the cairngorn mountains. our group of 8 got split up, but long story short, did a bunch of hiking and climbing. it was pretty awesome. took a bunch of pictures, but i don't have time to upload them now.

 

sunday: checked out of the hostel in the morning, walked the 7 miles from boat of garten back to aviemore along a beautiful, scenic path. took more pictures. had a picnic on a nice meadowy area in aviemore. then we hiked a few more miles to this lake, called loch an eileen, which had a fallen castle on a small island in the middle of the lake. quite cool indeed. took a train back to edinburgh, which arrived at 10:30. stayed up until 5 AM studying for my business law exam.

 

monday: business law exam. ate lunch, went to sleep. woke up at 10 PM. ate dinner, studied for my law of the european union exam until 3 AM.

 

tuesday: law of the EU exam. ate lunch, went to casino (gambling age is 18 also). played blackjack for quite some time, came out completely even when i left.

 

wednesday: had a huge chinese buffet for lunch. talk about MSG overload. company visit after class at the courthouse in edinburgh. VERY interesting. got to learn about how the court system works, and our "tour guide" showed us his wig thing too! awesome. then i played ultimate frisbee at the meadows for 6 hours. man, these scotland guys are baller when it comes to the frisbee. baller, i tell ya. after killing my legs, went back to the dorm, and the guys had a poker night. i came in second in the tournament and won 10 pounds. yay.

 

thursday: well, i'm in the middle of a 20-minute class break right now. after class, gonna eat lunch, pack, and then head to the airport at 3:30 to catch my flight. going to ireland for the weekend!
