chun-kay

yesterday my little brother turned 16. pretty scary, huh?

when did i stop calling you chun-kay? i can't even remember, but either way, jason, i'm glad (relieved) you've become a somewhat normal kid. it still boggles my mind that you are already a teenager, but i guess i just gotta stop living in the past and seeing you as a little boy.

i hope you had an awesome birthday yesterday. i saw some of the presents that you got from your friends, and i couldn't be more happy for you..

..well, happy that you actually still have friends. i know i haven't been home in a while, but i hope you are really honing those basketball skills, because once i come home, it's game time. i may be past my prime already, but mark my words -- the day you beat me in basketball is the day i quit playing. period.

actually, i know it's kinda weird thinking this far into the future, but hey, that's just how i am. if i stay here at UT for more than 4 years, i'll still be here if you and sum decide to come too. then we could all be on the same intramural teams (basketball, football, floor hockey, you name it). man that'd be so much fun..

okay anyways, have a sweet sixteen (is that only for girls?) and i'll see you when i see you.

16?! sigh.

beep-o-gram

i just got this email from mina ee back home..

Please remember Uncle Tony, Jon Lai's dad, in your prayers. I'm attaching a special message about a pager phone line as you pray for him. He's much encouraged when he hears the beep to know that someone is praying for him.
Mrs. Fong

Note: forwarded message attached.

Mina,

The pager # I give to Tony is 1-877-541-3738. It is a nation wide toll free number that can be used every where in the Nation. Tony will not respond to the pager but he can see the number that is paging him. We can enter our actual phone number or just enter any number we want just to let him know someone out there is praying for him. He told me he has received close to 100 pages per week since he has the pager.

In Christ,
Daniel Kwan

i know i've told some of you about mr. tony lai already. please continue to pray for him, and even if you don't know him, please page him if you can -- i know it would mean a lot to him. thanks guys =)

sports weekend

this weekend was totally devoted to sports. so if you're totally opposed to God's greatest gift to mankind (not really), then stop reading now.

weekends start on friday, right? let's see, i played ball for almost 3 hours with dshaw, koller, panda, and jeremy, and i think we won 6 straight games. good stuff.

saturday afternoon, the longhorns pounded mizzou 28-20 (texas > missouri sign #1)

also saturday afternoon, the houston astros killed the st. louis cardinals 5-2 (texas > missouri sign #2)! carlos beltran hit a home run!

saturday evening, we went to see a peter pan ballet at bass hall. is ballet a sport? should be, right? takes more energy and is far more exciting than golf, at least.

saturday late evening, stopped by jester basement for some slosh action. got all dressed up for it too. is dancing a sport? should be, right? takes more energy and is far more exciting than golf, at least.

saturday late late evening, the houston rockets owned the sacramento kings 91-89 in china. sure, it's only the preseason, but it's never too early to get pumped up, right? (and yes, that is dikembe mutombo on a camel)

sunday afternoon, the houston texans beat the tennessee titans 20-10! first time in franchise history!

also sunday afternoon, Coed BallerS advanced to the playoffs after an exciting game against the torpedo turtles! game ball(s) go to mark for his 30 yard catch, ada for her touchdown catch, weili for his touchdown catch, and brenda for her sack :)

late sunday afternoon, the astros destroyed the cardinals again 6-5 (texas > missouri sign #3)! whoo! series tied 2-2! berkman hit a home run! (well, beltran hit one too, but gotta share the glory here)

what a fun weekend. i think i should go try out for the next ESPN dream job. i'll add that to my list of 3928402388023 career options.
