what will you remember?

our memory is a funny thing, isn't it?

how is it that i can forget yesterday's homework assignment and yet remember exactly how i met each of my closest friends?

why is it that i can forget important deadlines and yet remember the smallest details of my childhood?

so, i ask you this: what's the secret? how do we determine which events log deep into your memory and which are merely fleeting incidents that will soon be forgotten?

ten years from now, i won't remember how i spent all week studying for my 2nd midterm in my government class that i took 2nd semester freshman year. i won't remember how i would always stay up on sunday nights working on BS assignments for BS business classes.

let me tell you what i will remember. i'll always cherish the late-night parades to taco cabana and kerbey lane. i'll always cherish how each person working the night shift at san jac knew me by face. i'll always cherish the fact that i had more than one place where i could lay my head down to sleep at night. i'll always cherish people's willingness to play ball together even after a sleepless night. i'll always cherish all the opportunities i got to simply hang out with friends and enjoy their fellowship.

this list can seriously go on forever..

this is the list that never ends..
it just goes on and on my friends..
some people started listing it not knowing what it was..

anyways, you get my drift. it's not as eloquent or well-expressed as i had hoped, but hey, give me a break. it's freakin' 8:15 in the morning. i never wake up this early.

frosh fo life! or, at least this year..

ok so after an overwhelming majority of the voters voted "NO" to this poll question:

if you were a world-class athlete, would you take a drug that would enable you to win an Olympic gold medal, even though it would probably cause your death within 10 years?

..i have decided to put up a new poll question.

actually, johanna prodded me into using this poll question. ok, she forced me to do it. either way, here's the new question, for FRESHMEN ONLY! wow, don't YOU feel special?

eh, by "YOU" i mean "YOU" if "YOU" are a freshman, because if you aren't a freshman, then obviously you wouldn't feel special in this situation.

anyways, here's the new poll question:

are you going to broomball this saturday night?

if you are a freshman and are interested in going but have not signed up as of now, it isn't too late! there is still hope! let me know and i'll get you signed up fo sho.

oh and btw, if you haven't noticed already, there's a new thug of the week: annie "the family" DIE.

buh bai.

there's a first time for everything..

yesterday i was a rookie. now im thinking about retiring.

im speaking about sullivan's of course.

so for weeks, i had been hearing countless rants and raves about their famous sunday dinner deal: mouth-watering cheeseburgers for $5. so finally, i decided to give these "best burgers in town" a try.

halfway to the restaurant, i find out that it's a pretty formal dining place. i look down and realize that i am wearing a hoodie, jordan shorts, and reeboks. doh.

so i am allowed to enter the restaurant, and after taking my first few steps inside, i hear "is that mok? jonathan? THAT IS HIM!"

and oh wow, it's my lovely softball team! apparently i was supposed to be at the team dinner at 6, and, what a coincidence, they came to sullivan's too! yipee! well, i tried to explain to everyone that i had been sleeping until 7, but to no avail. how come no one believes me anymore?

on to the food. i ordered a medium rare cheeseburger with swiss and cheddar, and holy moly, it really was as good as advertised! i still like fuddrucker's burgers more though =X

btw, Titus is awesome

anyways, the interesting part of the evening happened after the meal. by interesting, i mean disgusting.

so everyone has finished eating, when suddenly this guy comes out of nowhere and points at the seat next to me saying "mind if i take this seat?"

now at this point, i assume that he's asking if he can take the seat to another table, so i say, "sure, take it."

he smiles and sits down next to me. awkward. he then starts talking to the entire group, offering a free drink to whoever could tell him "what we did for fun today." silence.

i could smell the alcohol on his breath. i looked over at titus sitting on the other side of this guy, and he has this weird look on his face. i guess i wasn't the only one who didn't know what was going on.

so we decide to play along and go around saying something "fun" we did for the day. after every answer, the guy says "good, you get a free drink!"

after everyone had said something, he suggested that he get a bottle of champagne, and everyone could just pass the bottle around.

at this point, everyone informed him that we were all underage, with the exception of a few, and that we didn't really want a drink, but we gladly thanked him for the offer.

he then said that he could just buy the bottle since he was over 21, and we could just drink some. this made things really awkward, so basically everyone just ignored him.

he then kept asking me "why my friends were so mean" and "why my friends kept ignoring him." ok this was getting really awkward. i didn't know if he was gay, or drunk, or both, but i he was definitely hitting on me. what the crap.

he finally leaves, and i breathe a big sigh of relief, only to be comforted by the sound of everyone's laughter. i guess everyone knows im a gay magnet now. tiigghht.

oh, and happy belated birthday XIAO (saturday) and ANNIE (yesterday)!

as for today, today sucked. what a crummy day.
The Wonderful Cross
- Matt Redman

When I survey the wondrous cross
On which the Prince of Glory died
My richest gain I count but loss
And pour contempt on all my pride

See from his head, his hands, his feet
Sorrow and love flow mingled down
Did ever such love and sorrow meet
Or thorns compose so rich a crown

O the wonderful cross, O the wonderful cross
Bids me come and die and find that I may truly live
O the wonderful cross, O the wonderful cross
All who gather here by grace draw near and bless
Your name

Were the whole realm of nature mine
That were an offering far too small
Love so amazing, so divine
Demands my soul, my life, my all
